AC Milan reach agreement for Portugal wonderkid
AC Milan and Benfica have reached an agreement in principle for Portuguese midfielder wonderkid Florentino Luis.
AC Milan remain interested in Florentino Luis, but for the moment the negotiation with Benfica is frozen as for both clubs the most important thing for now is the restart of the respective leagues after the Coronavirus stop. Serie A still doesn’t have a concrete date while the Portuguese league starts again on 3 June.
According to a report from A Bola, in recent weeks there have been several contacts between the two clubs. The Portuguese newspaper writes that AC Milan and Benfica have reached an agreement in principle but final talks have been postponed at the end of the season.
AC Milan wants to sign Florentino on loan with the right to make the transfer permanent, that is to say the same formula with which Benfica sold Gedson Fernandes to Tottenham in January.
The Rossoneri had already tried to sign the 20-year-old defensive midfielder in January. The agent of Florentino Luis held talks with the Rossoneri managers in Italy but at that time Benfica, and especially coach Bruno Lage, said no to Milan’s offer for Luis.
Florentino Luis is a player that has the support of Paolo Maldini, fits Elliot’s transfer policy and is an ideal player for Ragnick’s model. Benfica are also interested in Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta but the Rossoneri rate the Brazilian higher than Florentino Luis thus talks for Paqueta are separated from those for Luis.
